You can also find hidden shrines which increase your overall health or stamina bars. These materials allow you to create even stronger tools to help you defeat dangerous animals. I love that the game incentivises exploration through finding rare materials on far off islands. Your first boat will be rather fragile and constructed of tall grass, but you can eventually upgrade to a sturdy wooden barge with a large sail if you collect the proper materials. Going from having absolutely nothing to creating your own boat and weapons provides a very powerful feeling and encourages you to continue looking for items instead of heading towards the main quest. Windbound encourages exploration as finding rare materials allows you to create stronger tools. Gathering & Crafting Survival is very satisfying Along the way, players encounter dangerous beasts, strange plants, and different types of unique terrain all saturated with that Zelda-like feeling of wonder. ![]() These allow Kara to retrieve the magic power necessary to open the gateway to the next chapter. The main focus of each of the five levels is to find three nautilus towers scattered throughout the seas. If you're a fan of these types of games, give this one a try.Source: Windows Central (Image credit: Source: Windows Central) Sea travel and the ability to upgrade your boat is also a rewarding endeavor. The gameplay focuses more on exploration than combat, but it’s a satisfying experience nonetheless. Explore, adapt, surviveĪll in all, Windbound is a solid survival game that boasts a vast open world to explore, a robust crafting system, and plenty of other things to do. The only thing to be aware of is the rather steep difficulty curve, which will affect how your playthrough will go. There are dangerous creatures in the waters, too, so fortify its structure to withstand attacks. Come up with an ideal sail design and set up to face the harsh winds and help you reach farther. Speaking of boats, your sea vessel will be your most important companion. Scavenge for better materials so you can upgrade them as you progress. You can also invent tools you will need to build basic shelter and even a boat to explore the various neighboring islands. Craft weapons to defend yourself and hunt for food. However, you will need to be wary of its harsh environments and deadly creatures. The Forbidden Islands in Windbound are rich with resources for the taking. With no food, shelter, or resources available, you must now set forth on a perilous journey of survival and find your way back home. Lost and shipwrecked, you find yourself stranded on a remote island that is part of the mysterious and uncharted Forbidden Islands. In Windbound, you play as Kara, a fierce warrior that was caught in a storm and separated from your tribe.
